Inspired by The Globe's Shakespearian Sonnet Walks, Scary Little Girls Productions bring the streets of St Austell alive with performance, poetry and song.
In groups of only ten to fifteen of you at a time, you set off on a specially prepared route around the town. You have only each other and the carefully constructed printed guides to show you around - as you progress you will discover secrets you never knew your town was keeping!
At intervals throughout the route, performers stationed in the crowds begin their poems and songs as your group draws near, engaging you with Cornish writing new and old that comes quite literally out of the life of the town.
Artists from Scary Little Girls, with Mark Rylance's support, have already created these unique walks internationally, including ones around Lower Manhattan in New York, Marylebone Village in London and Fowey in Cornwall as part of this year's Daphne du Maurier Festival.
The Living Word Walks make both town and writing come alive as the route becomes a performative treasure hunt and you find the hidden world of your town.
Join us for this intimate, enchanting and unexpected event and see, hear and experience St Austell as never before!
