Beach Party Raises Charity Cash

GyllyMoney01_compBoard shorts and bow ties were the theme of a party held at the Gylly Beach Café, Falmouth, in aid of the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust. The event, which attracted more than 150 people, was held during the World Cup and raised a whopping £750 for the Trust.

Stuart Smith, Sales Development Manager for St Austell Brewery, said: “It was a fantastic event and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Gylly, including the manager Mark Agnew and his brilliant staff.

“We are hoping to make it an annual event, which will grow bigger and bigger, and raise even more money for this worthwhile cause.”

St Austell Brewery re-launched its charitable trust with new vigour at this year’s Royal Cornwall Show, kicking it off with a £5,000 donation to Cornwall Hospice Care.

The family-owned business – one of Cornwall’s largest independent employers – hopes the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust will raise £50,000 this year alone.

The trust has raised a whopping £217,000 since it was started in 2003, with donations going to well-known charities, local good causes and individuals who need help. One of this year’s chosen charities is Cornwall Hospice Care, which runs the county’s two adult hospices.

Money is raised by individual pubs and employees through events such as darts tournaments, sponsored walks and quizzes, plus the annual Celtic Beer Festival in November.
