Visitors to St Austell Brewery got the chance to meet their rugby heroes this week as the Cornish Pirates toured the Brewery.

The first team players signed shirts and Tribute rugby balls for fans during the visit on Wednesday, August 11.

They had a guided tour of the family-owned Brewery, before meeting staff and customers, and sampling some award-winning St Austell ales.

James Staughton, managing director of St Austell Brewery, said: "We were delighted to welcome the Cornish Pirates to this Cornish brewery and look forward to cheering them on in the coming season.”

Phil Westren, from the Cornish Pirates, said: “The players thoroughly enjoyed being shown around and learning the various processes involved in creating a range of the Brewery’s finest ales.

“Ahead of the new season they also knew that coffee was on the cards, rather than a pint, but inevitably they were given a little leeway to sample the odd small glass!”
